Front-and-Back-Lit Channel Letters

Front- and back-lit channel letters do two jobs at once: the acrylic face lights toward the viewer, while the back of the letter washes the wall with a halo. A clear or diffusing polycarbonate back controls the rear light. These letters work when the customer wants the visibility of a front-lit set without giving up the softer architectural effect of reverse illumination.

Color-transition vinyl can be applied to the back panel when the front and halo need different colors. In deeper letters, an aluminum partition can separate independent front and rear LED systems. Front- and back-lit channel letters are often specified for retail, entertainment venues, automotive dealerships, hospitality projects, and corporate signage where both direct visibility and a wall glow are wanted.

How is front-and-back-lit different from reverse-halo channel letters?

Front-and-back-lit letters combine a lit face with a simultaneous rear halo from one set of internal LEDs. Reverse-halo (back-lit only) letters keep the face dark and light only the halo behind the letter — a different look for a different brand statement.

Can the front and back use different LED colors?

Yes. Deeper letters can achieve independent front- and back-LED colors using internal aluminum partitions, and color-transition vinyl on the back panel can further distinguish the front and back lighting colors.
